Double Blogging

Seems strange I know but what better way to keep my name out than to do it in as many places as possible…? So from now on ( well actually whenever my main blog manages to get fixed) I’ll post a double blog on wp and on www.johnchristopherphoto.com/blog …mirror posts of course. I’m already doing double work cut me some slack! No time for dual content people!

A Little R&R Time

So this week I’ll actually be off for a week at out family retreat lake house.

Me + no work for a week = :D!

Then Sarah’s wedding at the end of the week on Saturday at the very pretty Kali-Kate just outside of Austin. I’m in the wedding but be on the look out for some wedding pics from the groom’s man perspective coming soon. And Sarah’s very cool bridals as well. :D.

Till then, here is a cool one taken on Lake Placid while on a wave runner.

[Portraits] : Jaid

Busy, busy weekend! Friday it was bridals for Sarah that turned out SUPER amazing. Sarah, I know you’re going to love them….Aldo, sorry dude, not till the wedding!

Saturday was Jeff and Marilyn’s wedding (see post below)…

Sunday was a Senior Portrait Session with Jaid. I’m not sure she knows just how much of a natural she is at modeling, but it was pretty much effortless. I know she had a blast just about as much as I did I think. The photos turned out amazing! Way to rock it Jaid! Congrats!!!!

PDN Top Knots 2008

I spend QUITE a bit of time researching and getting ideas to get the creative juices going before most shoots. Researching helped me back in the day when I shot editorial photos for newspapers etc. when some of the subjects were completely mundane, and now it’s continued to help even during the most visually rich events like weddings. Not only do I enjoy looking at compelling images but it gives me a shot of ambition I suppose.

But, there can be quite a bit of bad stuff out there. So, to cut out the looking time for others, I thought I’d create a category where I post my favorite inspiration websites.

I think it’s amazing where wedding photography has gone. Yes the popularity of being a wedding photographer is mostly out of fad, I think, but I think also because there are some compelling stories and emotion to be told in the wedding celebration; and people are recognizing this. There’s so much worth in a great documentary the day and there are some photogs who have found a way to rise above the rest and capture something beyond the ordinary.

This past weekend in-fact, when I was 3rd shooting for JP Beato we were talking to one of the bridesmaids, and she mentioned how much she appreciated and admired how we didn’t take the typical boring “stand up strait and… right arm over left arm,” ho hum approach. A few minutes later another bridesmaid said just about the same exact thing.

So, look, look, look, but make it your own!

Heres the first link of many, many more to come: PDN’s Top Knots 2008. Theres some good stuff, and some not so good stuff but the great images in this gallery is well worth it. If you find something you like take a look at the photogs individual site there’s usually FAR more amazing work that doesn’t get recognized.

‘Till next time….

-J
